You can do a backstage tour of The O2🎤

Updated: Aug 8, 2022

Sadly, being backstage at The O2 didn’t involve meeting musical heroes or even attending a live event (can’t wait for them to be back in our lives) but a tour of the backstage area was still really cool.

The O2 is a lot quieter than usual as you can imagine, but throughout August (and now extended into weekends in September) you can get a full backstage tour.

The tour costs ÂŁ25, you book online, pick your date and time slot beforehand and turn up 15 minutes before to get checked in.

The tour starts with an introduction and your tour guide giving you some cool facts about the impressive arena and some of the acts they have had the pleasure of dealing with during their time working at The O2. You are then on the move and taken to a huge bar/nightclub type venue that is for VIPs and special guests only, it is also where after-parties are held and it really is stunning, you can definitely imagine some celeb parties taking place here. During the tour, you get to stand where the stage would usually be, see where the acts come and go, sit in the best seats in the house and visit one of the suites where it can cost over ÂŁ6000 to see an event. They do seat up to 24 guests and offer other perks, but we still might give it a miss for that price!

The best bit of the tour is seeing the places we wouldn’t usually have access to: dressing rooms, complete with light-up mirrors, make-up chairs, champagne and anything else the artist has requested. They also show you some real demands from some anonymous artists and maybe share some names too. You can visit changing rooms, see some memorabilia, lift a championship belt and hear some cool stories, such as the Kings of Leon’s tour bus catching on fire.

Our favourite part of the tour is a secret room, inside another secret room, inside another secret room. Next to a normal-looking door, you will see 2 hand-prints on the wall and a member of the party is asked to place their hands on them which helps open the door. You then enter a smallish room with nothing in it apart from a wardrobe. Someone is then asked to open the wardrobe which opens up ‘Willy Wonka style’ into another room. The next room is really awesome, has a private bar, is soundproof, with funky furniture, ghetto-blasters, record players and many books and fun stuff inside. It doesn’t stop there; the bookcase opens up and leads you to a cool games room. No photos can be taken in these rooms, but the tours are still available to book in September – click here if you fancy seeing it for yourself!#
